Here it lies.
My first stout for a long, long time, hopefully it will be ready for new year’s.
The base is a Coopers Stout kit, with the addition of Westbrew’s Stout Booster #25.
I’ve also thrown in a vanilla bean that had been soaked in rum for 24 hours, just to see how it goes.
OG = 1.053
Without knowing how well the Stout Booster will ferment out, it could be a strong batch, somewhere between 5-6%, but I’m expecting the booster will keep the FG fairly high.
Pitched and sealed around 9:30pm last night. So far today there’s a fair bit of activity on top of the wort, but little through the airlock. I’m not 100% sure my rubber seal is okay, as it’s a little on the old side, but id did get sterilised thoroughly. New seals are on the shopping list.
The dilemma is whether to label these brews as Somewhere in Greenwood Brewing or Somewhere in the Suburbs Brewing (as previous efforts were labelled Somewhere in Narrogin Brewing). Will ponder, and wait.
